Unalike

"...I note the obvious differences between each sort and type, but we are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike. We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike. We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike."

Human Family by Maya Angelou

As far as human beings go, I think most of them are knobheads.

I'm very much a people person, a shoulder to cry on, the agony aunt of the flat, but when it comes to everyone outside of that little bubble, I get pretty distressed. For example, the girls who don't have fun at the club. Who even are you? Why are you even here? What's worse is when they stick their noses up at your slut drop. Like what is that all about? The poem (above) features on one of the latest Apple adverts, in which a narrative of the poem discusses the love of people (hint hint at my ranty blog here) and is coupled with videos/images apparently taken on iPhones... apparently.

Although the imagery is super pretty and I'm kinda jealous that I haven't taken them, it's definitely the poem that made me think. Stuff about unity, stuff about how un-united we actually are. Like the whole world has gone absolutely batshit crazy (and rightly so) over Trump's election last week. I mean, at least is puts Brexit in perspective, but even that boils my blood about people. 'People' being the majority of our parents who fail to see past immigration and 'Good OLD Britain' so instead throw their precious children into economical crisis and and an even more uncertain future as if rising tuition fees and lack of jobs wasn't enough.

Oh and then wonder why poor mental health exists.

It's the people who ignore basic moral code. Bullies, perverts, politicians, teachers, the nhs (risky I know but sh) even friends sometimes forget what it means to be a basic human being; to be 'more alike, my friends, than we are unlike'. The footage used in the Apple advert makes you all fuzzy inside. Makes you want to explore the world with your loved one(s) and make the best mash of amateur GoPro film that you can. That, I get.

I'm an open minded person, I think most people in my area of unusual (and currently proving useless) talents are, like, that's just who we are. It's probably what has acc given us the motivation to do this specific degree. So when I see a range of ethnicities and with it, a range of expressions and emotions, it makes me aw. As in when you see a cute kitten aw. We could be soooooo adorably obsessed with each other and our backgrounds, stories, cultures, way of life; but instead I'm sat here in a crappy student hall on an annoyingly creaky desk chair ranting about how much I do infact, hate people.

I feeeeeeel like, the point of this blog is to show you how sometimes a overly gooey or overly forced way of advertising can cause somewhat of an anticlimax (especially when with all the political shit that's happened in 2016, my debating head is turned on 24/7) it can also make you question the world which pushes you to do something about it. To make change. Even if mine will be a tiny fraction of it, I want to get involved; I baso want to be empowered enough to slut drop 35982530823501 times infront of the snotty girls in the club who's makeup clearly disabled their ability to SMILE.

Angelou also states 'note the obvious differences, between each sort and type.'

Such a simple task, isn't it. Apart from hating people, I also excel in my belief system when it comes to LGBT, black minorities, feminism. It's probably one of the main reasons why fashion feels so real and accessible to me. It changes, it is celebratory of all 'minorities' and it has the power to educate a target audience or to create a movement that no-one even realises is happening, but will change how we live and most importantly how we treat each other.

Maya Angelou's poem is super important. Be a good human.
