Native Nomads: Julian Zigerli

If I'm honest I try my best to look at things from a business perspective, but I end up reading into these things on a deeper level: I don't really know who to blame for that, my flat mates or my parents? When researching my given trend, I came across Julian Zigerli's AW16 collection.

At first glance you might not necessarily see the link between Native Nomads and this particular collection of clothes. However, given the wealth of historical context this trend has, I feel that Julian Zigerli's presentation and promotion of the garments shared the same reflection on past historical events.

The image on the left is a photo collage of what seems to be a family photo and to the right, an imagine of the model without a face. Maybe Zigerli is trying to get a message of the garments being an identity, but I see the the building of something on top of what was already there: a development of the trend much like the Native Nomad trend is a premium version of past trends.

I am considering taking this concept into the creative concept part of brief as I could couple the idea of revival or reflection on the past with the likes of Georgia O'Keeffe's animal skulls or Ralph Lauren Home where death and 'the past' as a whole is turned into something artful and extremely aesthetically pleasing. This would work well in a promotional idea when combining my trend and my product (Philips Fabric Shaver) as this product is promoted on the sole purpose of reviving old and over worn clothes.
