Happy tears

Today we were given 45 minutes with the most surprisingly patient photographer on the planet in order to get the visuals for our concept brand. After a brief explanation of what vibe we're going for, we had a massively successful shoot.

Onion Rings. Get it? So we did a lot of playing on words, with our soul aim to photograph things that go well together. We did this to mirror the type of couple we want to reach as our consumers... the ones who are good together or at least aspire to be, in an effort to reach our initial consumer (the 'average' male) in a more unconventional way.

So we decided that humour and wit would be the best way to do this, that a little fun could go a long way. Sticking to a somewhat low budget meant that our lo-fi shoot involved a very strange food shop and masses of coloured card: of which there was no real colour palette. We did this on purpose because we want our whole brand identity to be sexless, not to sell off unisex but not to define the sex at all or ever suggest it.

The colours were placed to contrast the food put on top of them, obviously. But we wanted a bold, strong, graphic contrast that would make you stop and digest the image (maybe not so literally). We're not 100% sure what do to with it yet: whether to take a scrapbook approach to mimic the sort of keepsakes that couples have of their lives together, or whether to keep it clean cut and fresh.

Maybe you could try and guess the play on words or just the pairings that we've made (because I know no-one actually reads this blog) just for fun.
